UIC Looks to Bounce Back Against Wright State

Flames seek to snap brief two-game slide against Raiders

CHICAGO -- UIC will look to close out its brief two-game homestand in a winning fashion on Sunday, Jan. 29, when it hosts the Wright State Raiders at 3 p.m. CT inside the UIC Pavilion.

Both the Flames (11-10, 4-4 Horizon League) and Raiders (14-8, 5-4 Horizon League) will be looking to bounce back from tough losses on Friday night. UIC got off to a fast starts against Northern Kentucky, but could not sustain success as it fell, 79-62. For a full recap of that game, please click here. Wright State began its road trip with a 15-point defeat at the hands of first-place Valparaiso at the Athletics-Recreation Center. For a look back at that contest, please click here.

The Flames and Raiders will be meeting for the 55th time on the hardwood Sunday and the all-time series is split right down the middle with each team claiming victory 27 times. Each team protected its home floor with a win during the regular season a year ago with UIC's 64-59 triumph coming on Feb. 11, 2016. The two also met in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament in a game that was won by Wright State at Joe Louis Arena on Detroit. The Flames have won three consecutive games against Wright State at the UIC Pavilion, and four of the last five since Feb. 26, 2013.

In conjunction with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), UIC head coach Steve McClain, Wright State head coach Scott Nagy, and members of both coaching staffs will be supporting the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers initiative during the game Sunday. The purpose of the week it raise awareness and support for the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission. While coaching games during the week, coaches around the country wear sneakers with their game attire as a visible reminder about the importance of nutrition and physical activity in reducing cancer risk.
