CHICAGO -- UIC will put a bow around its longest homestand of the season Sunday afternoon, when it hosts the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at the UIC Pavilion. The Flames (8-7, 1-1 Horizon League) are coming off their first conference win of the season, a 14-point triumph over the visiting Titans of Detroit Mercy on Friday night. UIC shot a season-high 58.7 percent from the floor, while eclipsing 50 percent from 3-point range for the third time this season with a mark of 53.3 percent (8-of-15). The team's shooting percentage was the best in 45 games under head coach
Steve McClain. Defensively, the Flames held the Titans to just 38.1 percent from the floor, while blocking a season high 11 shots. Junior
Tai Odiase tallied eight of the 11 blocks as he vaulted up to 11
th in the country with 2.93 blocks per game this season.

The Golden Grizzlies (13-3, 3-0 Horizon League) come to Chicago after knocking off the conference preseason favorite Valparaiso on Friday night, 78-64. One of the storylines to follow on Sunday will be the UIC offense against the defense of Oakland. The Flames are shooting 47.2 percent from the field this season as they lead all 10 Horizon League teams in that category. On the flip side, Oakland's field goal percentage defense has been the League's best with a mark of 39.1 percent. UIC has only been held under 40 percent once in 15 games, when Eastern Illinois held the Flames to 39 percent from the floor on Dec. 4 at the UIC Pavilion.
