UIC's women's basketball team (1-0) will return to the court Thursday for a contest against Jackson State (1-2). Tipoff will be at 4:00 pm at the UIC Pavilion. Tickets are free to all UIC students with a valid I-card. The Flames will seek their third 2-0 start in the last four seasons.
Starting Five
- Taylor Toney poured in 22 points and set career highs with six assists and seven steals in the season opener against Bethel.
- Gabryelle Johnson had a game-high 11 rebounds.
- Freshman Abreanna Lake had an impressive debut, handing out five assists off the bench.
- Tylah Lampley had eight points on a variety of athletic moves in the paint. She also blocked two shots and filled out the stat sheet with four rebounds.
- Teodora Zagorac made all four of her field goals. Three of them were consecutive layups in a span of 100 seconds at the beginning of the third quarter.
Last Time Out
- UIC defeated Bethel, 66-46, in the season opener last Friday.
- The Flames trailed by one at halftime but went on a 16-2 run right after the break.
- The offense didn't let up the rest of the second half. The Flames made 54% of their shots after halftime and shot 43% for the game.
- UIC owned a 40-12 advantage in the paint and scored 21 points on fast breaks, while not allowing the Pilots to score at all on fast breaks.
Tiger Tales
- This will be the first meeting between Jackson State and UIC.
- The Tigers dropped an 86-85 contest to LSU Shreveport on Monday. Sumer Williams led the team with 15 points and seven rebounds.
- Jackson State averages 82 points on 40% shooting, despite a 0.5 assist to turnover ratio.
