CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (2-2) opens a stretch of four-straight home matches Sunday when it welcomes Bradley (1-2) to XS Tennis at 10 a.m. CT.
The Flames are one week removed from their last competition when they suffered a 7-0 loss at Western Michigan (Feb. 5). Despite going without a point,
Oana Manole,
Melika LeBlanc,
Bianca Zuzu and
Rachel Le Comber all went to three sets in their respective singles matches.
Through four matches this season, UIC has produced 11 singles wins, paced by Le Comber with a 3-1 record at No. 6. Manole (No. 1), Zuzu (No. 4) and
Miranda Rodriguez Diaz de Leon (No. 5) have also aided in the total with two wins apiece.
In doubles, the team of Le Comber and
Stefana Vasic have come up with two wins at No. 3, while Manole and Rodriguez Diaz de Leon own the team's other victory at No. 1.
Bradley will head to Chicago after it faces Milwaukee on Saturday. In their three matches so far, the Braves posted a 7-0 win over South Dakota State and fell in the following matches to Eastern Illinois, 7-0, and Northern Illinois, 5-2.
Eight singles victories have been tabulated by Bradley, led by Aimee Manfredo and Malini Wijesinghe with two each. Wijesinghe has also helped the doubles effort as she is a team-best 2-1 alongside Alexa Brandt.
In the all-time series between the Flames and Braves, UIC is 3-11, however the two teams have only met once over the past 20 years. That meeting came just last season, when the Flames captured a 5-2 win at XS Tennis.
