CHICAGO- The UIC Flames hosted the Nebraska Cornhuskers Sunday afternoon inside the UIC Pavilion alongside the women's gymnastics team who took on Western Michigan. The Flames fell to the Cornhuskers with a final score of 367.950 to 406.300.
Leading the way for the Flames was senior co-captain
Alexander Dumstorf who was a team best on floor with a score of 13.000. Freshman
Basil Szechinski followed with a 12.950 and finishing third for UIC was senior
Jacob Thurber who notched a 12.800.
On pommel horse senior co-captain
Christopher Root earned a 13.500 placing him in second overall; Dumstorf followed suit tallying a 12.700 on the event. Root also scored the team high on rings with a 12.700 ahead of freshman
Satchel Hudson who was second best with his score of 12.550.
Freshmen
Victor Bello,
Asad Jooma and
Basil Szechinski all scored personal bests on vault; Bello notched a 13.900, followed by Jooma's 12.950 and Szechinski who finished with a 12.550.
Rounding out the meet on parallel bars and high bar were freshman
Tyler Ball and Root. Root earned the team high on parallel bars with his score of 13.800, while Ball scored a 12.100 on both the parallel bars and high bar.
The Flames are back in action Saturday, March 4 when they head to Darien, Ill. to participate in the 2017 Midwest Open.
