UIC Seeks Season Sweep at Milwaukee

Flames look defeated Panthers in Chicago on Jan. 17, 71-57

CHICAGO -- For the second time in a six-game span, UIC will meet the Milwaukee Panthers at UWM Panther Arena on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. CT. The Flames claimed the first meeting of the season on Jan. 17 at the UIC Pavilion, 71-57.

UIC (11-12, 4-6 Horizon League) scored 18 points off 12 Milwaukee turnovers and shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) in the second half to put the Panthers away in the first meeting. Junior Tai Odiase produced a double-double behind 20 points and 12 rebounds, both team highs. The Glenwood, Ill., native also rejected six shots that night, five more than Milwaukee's entire team. The Flames started the road trip with a strong showing in Green Bay on Thursday night, though they came up a couple possessions short, falling 84-80. Five UIC players scored in double figures, highlighted by career-high efforts from Dominique Matthews (22) and K.J. Santos (17). Odiase picked up his fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. The team matched a season high with 11 3-pointers, but they failed to convert an attempt from downtown over the final 11 minutes of the contest. For a full recap of that game, please click here.

Milwaukee (8-16, 4-7 Horizon League) has lost back-to-back games after winning three in a row following the loss to the Flames on Jan. 17. The Panthers began the weekend by hosting Valparaiso on Thursday night with the Crusaders winning, 71-53. Cody Wichmann paced Milwaukee with 17 points, all in the second half, against Valpo. The senior is averaging a team-best 13.0 points per game for first-year head coach LaVall Jordan.
