MIAMISBURG, Ohio – After dropping the doubles point for the first time in six matches, the UIC women's tennis team (12-5, 3-1 HL) came back in singles to secure the 4-3 victory over Wright State (11-11, 2-3 HL) Saturday at Miamisburg High School.

Despite coming up short in doubles, the tandem of
Rachel Le Comber and
Melika LeBlanc won their sixth-straight match and improved to 9-3 on the year in a 6-3 decision at No. 1. They were able to even the score after
Georgie Sanders and
Stefana Vasic fell, 6-2, at No. 3, but the Raiders took the deciding point at No. 2 with
Oana Manole and
Bianca Zuzu coming up short, 6-4.

The Flames were able to come out in singles and take the first two matches.
Miranda Rodriguez Diaz de Leon won at No. 6 over Tori Turner, 6-4, 6-3, with Le Comber coming up with her fifth-straight win in a 6-4, 7-5 decision at No. 5 over Taylor Culbertson.

Wright State came back to go ahead by a point as LeBlanc was edged by Elaine Cloern, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3 and Zuzu was defeated by Haily Morgan, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 4.

UIC then knotted the score at 3-3 as Manole pulled away from Karoline Haller in a three-set battle at No. 1, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. The deciding set went down to No. 2 with Sanders taking on Linsey Verstrepen as they extended their match in both the first and second set before Sanders collected the 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 win.

The Flames are back in action Sunday when they face Northern Kentucky at 10 a.m. CT at the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex in Highland Heights, Ky.
