MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – UIC (2-6-0) was unable to come up with the offensive production it needed Sunday afternoon as it suffered a 2-0 loss to Middle Tennessee (1-4-0) at Hayes Stadium.

For the second-straight match, the Flames were held to eight shots. The shots were distributed by six players while
Rebeca Pallo and
Keri Birkenhead each had two attempts. Of the efforts, two were on goal from Pallo and
Naomi Rushe.

Annie DiCanio played her fourth straight complete game in goal and was need to make two saves while the Blue Raiders put four of their 10 shots on goal.

In the first 10 minutes of play, the Flames were awarded three corner kicks, but just one shot was taken on a chance from Kittle sent wide. They put an attempt on goal in the 16th minute when Rushe had her shot stopped, while DiCanio was forced to make one save during that frame.

A mere two shots would come the rest of the way with both coming from Middle Tennessee with an attempt sent wide and another hitting off the crossbar.

UIC came out of halftime and put up four shots, doubling its effort from the first half, but had just one attempt on the mark that was saved come from Pallo. However, the Blue Raiders would be the first to convert as Peyton Depriest scored in the 66th minute on an assist from Amber Hoot.

Middle Tennessee would execute four more shots, with DiCanio making another save, while the Flames went nearly 30 minutes without an attempt before Everin took a shot in the 85th minute that went wide.

However, with just over three minutes to play, the Blue Raiders increased its lead to 2-0 as Casey Riemer sent in a cross that connected with the head of Sam Debien for the second tally. One final shot came from UIC with Birkenhead sending one high.

The Flames will continue their road swing next weekend when they open up Horizon League play at Northern Kentucky on Friday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in Highland Heights, Ky.
