EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- UIC opened the final test of the fall slate Monday by shooting 333 as a team to begin the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, Ind. The Flames are tied for 10
th in the field after 18 holes of the 36-hole tournament.
Senior
Claudia Stampa stepped up and led the way for UIC Monday. The San Sebastian, Spain, native carded a 7-over-par 79, which leaves her just outside the top 10 and tied for 12
th on the individual leader board.
The Flames are one of four Horizon League squads in Evansville this week. Northern Kentucky sits in second place after day one, one shot better than IUPUI. Green Bay is also playing at Oak Meadow and the Phoenix is six strokes in front of UIC entering play Tuesday.
Southern Illinois is in front of the pack with a 317, one shot in front of the Norse. IUPUI's
Marion DeBove played seven shots better than anyone else in the field on Monday with a 2-under-par 70.
The tournament concludes with a 10 a.m. CT shotgun start on Tuesday.
