CHICAGO -- UIC collected its first victory of the young season on Thursday night, an overtime thriller against William & Mary, and the Flames will look to start stacking wins when they welcome Bradley to Credit Union 1 Arena on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
OPENING TIP
- UIC continues its three-game homestand at Credit Union 1 Arena with a visit from in-state rival Bradley.
- It will be the first meeting on the hardwood between the Flames and Braves since 2014 and the seventh all-time between the two.
- UIC has played back-to-back overtime games for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
- UIC head coach Steve McClain picked up the 200th win of his Division I head coaching career against William & Mary Thursday.
GOING THE DISTANCE
- UIC has played consecutive overtime games for the first time since 2006 (Feb. 22 [at Cleveland State] and Feb. 25 [vs. Wright State]). The Flames won both games.
- The win over William & Mary was the first overtime triumph since Feb. 4, 2017 at Milwaukee. It was the first at home since Jan. 30, 2016 against Cleveland State.
- Under McClain, UIC is 4-5 in overtime games.
RISE AND FIRE
- The Flames rank seventh in the NCAA with 46 3-point field goals made this season and 10th with 115 3-point attempts.
- Eight different players have converted at least one 3-pointer through four games, and five have connected on at least four. Tarkus Ferguson ranks seventh nationally with 16 3-pointers made this season.
- Ferguson matched career highs from downtown at Radford and vs. W&M (5).
- 46.9 percent of the squad's total field-goal attempts this season have come from downtown. That ranks 47th in the country according to KenPom.com.
- UIC has made 40 3-pointers in the last three games, including a season-high 14 at Duquesne Monday.
- That was one shy of the best total in the Steve McClain era, and three off the program record.
MINUTE MEN
- Through Thursday, three UIC players rank in the NCAA's top 30 in total minutes played this season. Tarkus Ferguson is third (151), Godwin Boahen is sixth (145) and Marcus Ottey is 26th (132).
- Boahen (42), Ottey (41) Michael Diggins (31) each played career-high minutes in Thursday's overtime game against William & Mary.
- Ferguson played a career-high 43 minutes in Monday's overtime game at Duquesne.
- Rob Howard played a career-high 31 minutes at Duquesne.
BOAHEN'S BREAKOUT
- Guard Godwin Boahen exploded for a career-high 24 points Thursday against William & Mary. He made a personal-best seven field goals and eight free throws (in eight attempts) against the Tribe.
- He earned Horizon League Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2017-18, becoming the first player in program history to do so.
- Boahen led the conference in 3-point shooting percentage in all games (50.8 percent) and conference games (42.6 percent).
- He owns an active streak of at least one 3-pointer made in 22 consecutive games.
- Boahen did start 11 of UIC's 36 games last year, including all four during the CIT run.
- He has started all our games this season and in 36 of 69 career games at UIC.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- UIC recorded 20 wins last season, the most since the 2003-04 campaign.
- After winning only five games during the 2015-16 season, the Flames have won at least 17 games in back-to-back seasons.
- The 37 wins over two seasons are the most in a similar span since the 2002-2004 teams won 45 times. UIC went to the NIT in 2003 and the NCAA Tournament in 2004.
- The team's 12 Horizon League wins were the most since the 2003-04 season. That year the Flames earned their most recent NCAA Tournament bid.
- The Flames finished third in the Horizon League last season for the sixth time since joining the conference in 1994. It was the first occurrence since 2004.
