UIC defeated 96–32

MILWAUKEE – The UIC women's basketball team (1-3) was dealt a 96-32 loss by No. 22 Marquette (4-1) on Saturday afternoon inside Fiserv Forum, the home of the Milwaukee Bucks. The Flames were kept in the single digits in three out of four quarters against the Big East favorites, making just 18.2 percent of all shots.

First Half Highlights
  • Marquette broke out early, forcing a pair of UIC turnovers to give way to a 10-2 lead. A jumper from Jada Nneji was the only score for the Flames in the first four minutes, until a free throw from Kara Wilson broke the silence, 12-3.

  • A pair of free throws at the hands of Jasmine Gaines were the last points for the Flames in the first half, as they headed into the locker room facing a 56-14 deficit.
Second Half Highlights
  • The Flames converted a strong passing play for the first points of the second half, but Marquette continued to make quick work of the Flames, bursting into a 15-0 run.
  • Lampley thieved the ball from a Golden Eagle and fed it up to Kara Wilson at the net to end the run, and Brittany Byrd followed it up with another steal returned for a layup, 71-20.
  • UIC was able to reach double digits for the first time in the third quarter, netting 10 points, but the Golden Eagles put up 24 points for the second-straight frame to end the third with an 80-24 lead.
  • The first half of the fourth was relatively quiet, as both teams combined for just ten points in the first five minutes.
