CHICAGO – After leading the UIC women's soccer program through its first five seasons, head coach
Brian Rigby will not return, Director of Athletics
Garrett Klassy announced Thursday, Nov. 8.
"The tireless work that Coach Rigby and his staffs have put forth to lay the foundation and build our women's soccer program over the past five-plus years cannot be overstated," said Klassy. "We all thank him for his dedicated contributions to UIC as both a student-athlete and coach. As a UIC alum, Riggs will always be a part of our Flames family and we wish him the very best in the next step of his journey."
Rigby's squads compiled an overall record of 25-64-5 in five seasons with a mark of 4-14-1 in 2018. He went 15-28-1 in conference play with one Horizon League Tournament appearance (2017). He coached seven players to nine All-Horizon League awards and seven All-Freshman Team selections at UIC.
Rigby was a four-year letterwinner with the Flames from 1994-97, serving as a team captain in each of his final two seasons and collecting All-League honors in 1997. He graduated with a dual Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Management from UIC in 1998.
Klassy will lead a comprehensive national search to immediately identify a new head coach to lead the UIC women's soccer program.
