Flames Look to Continue Momentum Against Eastern Michigan

Team Set Several High Scores Last Weekend

The UIC women's gymnastics team's season-opening road trip will wind up in Ypsilanti, Mich. Friday evening with a dual meet at Eastern Michigan.  The fifth of five straight road meets to start the season will begin at 6:00 pm Central, and links to live scoring and live video can be found in the blue box to the left.

Through the Rotations
  • All six Flames (Ashley Albrecht, Riley Cholod, Toni Alicke, Katie Snyder, Serena Baker, and Mikailla Northern) who competed on parallel bars last Friday set season highs.  The sextet was collectively honored with the Midwest Independent Conference's Performance of the Week award after they scored 49.125, the highest Flames score on any apparatus this season.
  • Albrecht is the reigning MIC Newcomer of the Week.  It is the third time this season that UIC has won that distinction.  Albrecht set season highs on the bars, beam, floor, and all-around last week.
  • Kayla Baddeley continued her own strong freshman campaign with a 9.800 on the vault and a second place finish.  She also tied her season mark on the floor.
  • The Flames rank 29th in the country on the bars.  Serena Baker is the team's top scorer with a 9.806 average.
Last Time Out
  • The Flames were in first place after three rotations against UC Davis and West Virginia last week, but settled for a third place finish when all was said and done.
  • The team set or tied 14 individual season highs, and accumulated their second highest team score of the season at 193.025.
  • In addition to the bars, the team posted a season high on the floor behind a third place finish from Northern and a fifth place showing from Baddeley.
  • Northern and Albrecht each set season highs in the all-around, and finished second and fourth respectively.
Scouting the Opposition
  • Eastern Michigan set a season high last week, finishing ahead of Rutgers and Pittsburgh but shy of Michigan State in a quad meet.
  • Emili Dobronics was the Eagles' top scorer on the vault and floor.  She finished second in the all-around.
  • Lacey Rubin captured first place on the beam.
  • Kendall Valentin ranks fourth in the MAC in the all-around.  Rubin is fifth in the conference on the bars, and Kirsten Dendron is fifth on the floor.
  • EMU defeated the Flames in a dual meet at UIC Pavilion last season, 194.550-193.325.
