Flames Get Rematch With Northern Illinois in Home Opener

UIC Topped Huskies in Season Opener

After five straight road meets to open the season, UIC women's gymnastics will make its long-awaited home debut Sunday afternoon when the Flames host Northern Illinois at UIC Pavilion.  The meet, which is a rematch of the season opener, will begin at 2:00 pm.

Through the Rotations
  • UIC is second in the Midwest Independent Conference in the team all-around standings, and first on the bars.  Serena Baker and Toni Alicke are the MIC's top two individual bars performers.
  • Freshmen lead UIC on two apparatuses.  Kayla Baddeley, who missed the Flames' last meet with the flu, is the team's highest scorer on the vault this season.  Her 9.825 at Boise State is her, and the team's, season high.  Ashley Albrecht has the Flames' highest floor exercise average, 9.710.
  • Mikailla Northern, Baker, and Alicke have each achieved a team-high 9.850 on the bars.  Baker has the squad's highest average at 9.810.
  • The Flames have posted at least 13 individual season highs in each of the last two meets.
Last Time Out
  • The Flames set a season high with 194.250 points, and were narrowly edged by Eastern Michigan (194.900) last Friday.
  • All six performers on the beam set season or career highs, with the end result of 48.950 representing the highest team score this year.
  • Serena Baker won the bars competition and teamed with Katie Snyder and Toni Alicke to post three of the meet's top four scores.
  • Katie Snyder was the vault champion.
Scouting Northern Illinois
  • NIU scored season high marks on the beam and the vault as they placed third in a quad meet with Iowa State, West Virginia, and Yale last Friday.
  • Anna Martucci scored 9.900 on the floor and was named MAC Specialist of the Week.
  • Ashley Potts is in the top three in the MAC on the vault and bars.
  • The Flames topped the Huskies, 193.525-192.600 in DeKalb in the season opening meet that also included NC State.
  • NIU will square off against Eastern Michigan Friday before journeying to Chicago.
