The UIC women's gymnastics team will return to action just more than 48 hours after their last meet, as they travel to Western Michigan Tuesday night. The dual meet will be a rematch of the team's first meeting, also in Kalamazoo, back on January 14, which the Broncos won 193.425-193.000.
Around the Rotations
- Kayla Baddeley has the Flames' highest average on the vault, just 0.002 ahead of Miki Northern. Baddeley won the vault in the first meeting with WMU. Northern has the edge over Baddeley by 0.005 when comparing regional qualifying scores.
- Northern achieved her second highest bars score against Western Michigan in January. She took second with a 9.825.
- Baddeley also has UIC's best beam average on the season, and she was the team's top finisher in that event, as well as the floor exercise, in the first WMU meet.
- Serena Baker and Riley Mahoney each had team high scores in an event on Sunday. Baker led UIC on the bars, and Mahoney had the top score on beam in a tie with Baddeley.
Last Time Out
- The Flames placed second in the Illinois Classic on Sunday, outscoring Northern Illinois and Illinois State, while coming in just 0.300 behind Illinois.
- UIC's total of 194.725 was a season high.
- The Flames' performances across all four events were quite consistent, as only 0.150 separated the four scores.
- Northern posted a season high 9.825 on vault, matched that number on the floor, and took second in the all-around.
Scouting Western Michigan
- Western Michigan had all four individual champions and posted a season high 196.075 in a win over Ball State Saturday.
- Rachael Underwood set a school record with 39.350 in the all-around. She won the vault and floor exercise competitions.
- Amelia Mohler won the bars with a school record 9.925.
- Underwood and Mohler have been two of WMU's top performers this season. Jessica Juncaj has the team's top beam average.
