CHICAGO -- The 18
th annual Challenge of the Deans is set for Thursday, Jan. 24 and there is still time to purchase tickets and even register for the competition. The men's basketball team will take on the Detroit Mercy Titans that night at Credit Union 1 Arena with tip-off slated for 7 p.m. CT.
What is the Challenge of the Deans? UIC Colleges are invited to register a dean (or faculty representative) and one student for a free throw shooting contest at halftime. The rules are simple and each contestant has 30 seconds to sink as many shots as possible from the charity stripe. Whichever college makes the most free throws is declared the winner and owns ultimate bragging rights for a year. UIC College of Applied Health Sciences Dean
Bo Fernhall is the defending champion.
Multiple colleges have already registered including: Applied Health Sciences, Business, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, CADA and UIC's newest partner, John Marshall Law.
You can represent and cheer on your college for only $15. The cost includes a game ticket and access to a pregame reception with food and drink inside the atrium of the Student Services Building, across the street from Credit Union 1 Arena. The reception begins at 5 p.m., two hours prior to the start of the game. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact
