Senior Day Pits Flames Against Green Bay

Meet is Final Swimming Competition Before Conference

UIC Swimming and Diving will host its annual Senior Day on Saturday, when the team hosts Green Bay at UIC Natatorium for a 2 pm dual meet.  Prior to the meet, the team's seniors – Dani Cabrera, Connor Homans, Nathan Jesko, Evan Johnson, Lexie Joy, Nick Koto, Annette Lesnicki, Kelly McGowan, Hannah Olsen, Ashlin Ruiz, Sean Scarry, Billy Troy, and Natalie Williams – will be honored at their final appearance in their home pool.

Not only will it be the final home meet of the season, but it will be the last swimming competition before the Horizon League Championships.  The Flames will seek to build on a strong return to action last week, as well as avenge a loss in last year's men's meet against their rivals to the north.

Last Time Out
  • The men and women each won twice in four scored meets last weekend.
  • Hunter Crook turned in the Horizon League's Men's Swimmer of the Week-winning performance in the team's two-day meet at IUPUI with Cleveland State.  He set a season best time in the 1000 free, winning the race by nearly nine seconds.
  • Cydney Liebenberg was the conference's Women's Diver of the Week after winning the three-meter event both days, and finishing first and second on the one-meter board.
  • Kyle Lewarchick won the 400 IM, taking the first victory of his collegiate career.  Danny Sivak won the 100 breast.
  • Christina Neri was the 1000 free champion.

  • Johnson has been one of UIC's top breaststrokers this season, with one win in the 100.

  • Koto set his season best time in the 500 free at the TYR Invitational last fall.
  • Lesnicki has five top-five finishes in the 100 and 200 fly.
  • McGowan finished eighth in the 200 fly and 100 back last weekend.
  • Olsen holds the team's best time in the 200 back, in which she finished fourth at last season's conference championships.

  • Scarry has also been sidelined all year.  He has four final round appearances in conference championship diving events.
  • Troy set season bests in the 50, 100, and 200 free at the TYR Invitational.
  • Williams has been a consistent diver all season, posting season highs of 216.60 on the 1-meter board and 226.4 on the 3-meter.
