CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (3-16, 1-7 HL) will wrap up its weekend in Wisconsin by facing Milwaukee (9-10, 4-4 HL) on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT inside the Panther's Klotsche Center.
Starting Five
- Jada Nneji is third in the nation in total blocks, racking up 59 blocks on the season so far. The sophomore averages 3.1 stops per game, good for fifth in the nation.
- UIC ranks 34th in the nation in total blocks, due in large part to Nneji's efforts. Nneji is responsible for 69 percent of UIC's blocks, owning 59 of the team's 85.
- Brittany Byrd remains in the top three in the Horizon League in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game. Byrd led the Flames with 11 points on Thursday (Jan. 24) at Green Bay.
- Kiarra Thompson matched her personal best with a trio of three-pointers against the Phoenix. The sophomore finished with nine points for the second-straight game.
- The Flames rank third in the League in three-point field goal defense, containing opponents to just 28.8 shooting from downtown. UIC has kept the opposition under 35 percent from three-point range in 13 of its 19 contests this year. Only two teams have shot above 40 percent from three against the Flames, Miami (45 percent) and Northern Kentucky (45 percent).
Last Time Out
- UIC took on defending Horizon League Champion Green Bay on Thursday, taking a 62-32 loss.
- Green Bay's nationally ranked defense was on display, allowing just 10 UIC field goals and forcing 25 turnovers.
- The Phoenix also swiped the ball 20 times, the most by any UIC opponent this season.

- Win its fourth game of the season
- Break a six-game losing streak against Milwaukee
- Capture its second Horizon League Win

Panther Points
- Milwaukee is 4-4 in Horizon League play after taking a 67-66 overtime loss to IUPUI on Thursday night. The loss ended a four-game win streak for the Panthers. Megan Walstad, McKaela Schmelzer and Sydney Staver all ended the night with career-high points.
- The Panthers lead the Horizon League in three-point shooting, making 33.6 percent of their shots from downtown.
- Milwaukee is also number one in the conference in blocks, averaging 4.80 stops per game to place just above UIC's 4.5 per game average.
- Walstad leads the Panthers in scoring (11.9 ppg), and is second in the League in shooting, making 56.9 percent of her shots.
- Walstad is also the team's leader in rebounds, averaging 5.4 boards per game.
- McKaela Schmelzer leads Milwaukee as well as the Horizon League in assists, handing out an average of 4.2 assists per game.
- Milwaukee owns a 35-21 advantage all-time against the Flames, and has taken the last six meetings between the two teams. The Panthers last defeated UIC 59-44 on their own turf back on Jan. 28, 2018.
