MADISON, Wis. – The UIC women's tennis team (1-3) wrapped up its weekend in Madison, Wis. with a 5-2 loss to Colorado State (1-0) on Saturday.
Georgia Gulin and
Georgie Sanders got two points for the Flames in singles competition, while the Flames just barely missed the doubles point with a close call in the No. 3 doubles match.
Doubles Highlights
Colorado State's Emily Kolbow and Stella Cliffe defeated
Lejla Colic and
Georgie Sanders 6-3 from the No. 2 position, but
Karyna Bihel and
Lucie Prochazkova got the Flames redemption in the No. 1 match, defeating Priscilla Palermo and Alyssa Grijalva 7-5. The No. 3 match between CSU's Emily Luetschwager and Nancy Ghanem and UIC's
Georgia Gulin and
Viktoria Seifert was close, but ultimately went to the Rams, 7-6.
Singles Highlights
Grijalva met Bihel in singles play and was victorious, 6-2, 6-2. Colic was taken down 6-1, 6-3 by Luetschwager at No. 1 and Colorado State's Riley Reeves was able to defeat
Rachel Le Comber 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 to give the Rams the win. Gulin rallied after dropping the first set to Palermo 6-0, taking the next two, 7-5, 10-7 in the No. 4 match. Cliffe brought down Prochazkova at No. 3, 7-6, 6-3, while
Georgie Sanders was victorious at No. 5, 4-6, 7-5, 12-10 to end the day.
