@UICFlamesMBB Hosts WSU to Open #HLMBB's Second Half

Highly anticipated rematch will air on ESPNU

1/30/2019 7:49:00 PM

CHICAGO -- UIC will open the second half of a four-game homestand and the second half of Horizon League play on Friday, February 1, when the Flames welcome the Wright State Raiders to Credit Union 1 Arena for a rematch of one of this season's most exciting games to date. The contest will air before a national television audience on ESPNU and it is slated to tip at 8 p.m. CT. The Flames (10-12, 4-5 Horizon League) and Raiders (12-10, 6-3 Horizon League) opened the conference schedule by squaring off at WSU's Nutter Center on December 28. Rendered shorthanded for much of the second half, UIC rallied to force an overtime period before freshman Travell Washington calmly knocked down a 3-pointer to beat the buzzer and send the Flames on their way with a victory. Washington scored a season-high 13 points with four 3-pointers, while Marcus Ottey led UIC with 23 points. Tarkus Ferguson played 44 of 45 minutes and notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Here's a look back at the memorable finish:

Wright State comes to Chicago as one of the conference's hottest teams on the heels of a four-game winning streak. Sophomore Loudon Love is the reigning Horizon League Player of the Week after averaging 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in victories against Milwaukee and Green Bay last week at the Nutter Center. He is the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 15.0 ppg and 8.4 rpg this season.

Tickets remain on sale for the Horizon League matchup and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or by calling 312-413-UIC1 (8421). For fans unable to make it to Credit Union 1 Arena, Friday's game will be broadcast on ESPNU and also available through Watch ESPN. Jordan Bernfield and Brooke Weisbrod will be on the call.
