MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Freshman
Brian Taylor led UIC in scoring in just his second collegiate game Friday evening as the UIC men's basketball team dropped a 92-46 decision to No. 14/15 Memphis.
Taylor was one of two Flames in double figures, registering his first career double-figure game with a 11 points. Senior
Godwin Boahen joined Taylor in double figures with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
UIC returns to action Wednesday evening, playing host to Ball State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
GAME NOTES
- TIGERS FAST START: Memphis jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before Deon Ejim put the Flames on the board with a 3-pointer. UIC couldn't build off the triple as the Tigers scored the next 12 points to take a 18-3 lead and set the tone early.
- BEYOND THE ARC: Memphis' first four baskets were all from beyond the arc. In the half, Memphis connected on 11-of-17 3-point attempts. Half of UIC's six made field goals came from long distance.
- BALANCED BOAHEN: Godwin Boahen led UIC on the court in the opening 20 minutes, finishing with the team-high five points and five rebounds.
- TAYLOR TIME:Â After being held scoreless in the first half, freshman Brian Taylor scored 11 second-half points on 4-of-7 shooting. In just his second collegiate game, Taylor recorded his first double-figure game.Â
