CHICAGO --Â The UIC men's basketball team dropped its final game of the 2019 calendar year Monday (Dec. 30) evening, falling to Youngstown State, 70-64, inside Credit Union 1 Arena.

Godwin Boahen led the Flames with a team-high 15 points while
Braelen Bridges had his third consecutive double-figure game with 10 points, five rebounds and a season-high three blocks.
Jacob Wiley came off the bench to add eight points and three rebounds for UIC.

UIC rings in the new year with its first conference roadtrip of the season beginning on Friday, Jan. 3 at Green Bay.

First Half Highlights
- Off the tip, Bridges scored in the paint to put UIC on the board, 2-0. Bridges would continue to produce for the Flames with another layup following five consecutive points from YSU.
- A 3-pointer from Travell Washington would start a 7-0 run for UIC, which would end up being the Flames' largest run in the first half. A steal by Boahen led to layup, which put the Flames back in front. Boahen proceeded to make another layup to add the lead, 18-15, with 10:05 left in the half.
- With 3:08Â left in the first half, following an 8-0 run by the Penguins, Marcus Ottey made a layup which would begin a 6-0 Flames run.

Second Half Highlights
- Jordan Blount got things started for the Flames in second half with a layup. However, YSU answered right back with a layup of their own to push the lead back to five at 33-28.
- Wiley's shot under the basket ended the Penguins' 7-0 run at 42-32. Wiley would later go on to start the largest scoring run (8-0) of the night for the Flames with a layup while completing the old-fashioned 3-point play. It was followed up with a jumper by Boahen, a layup and free throw from Ferguson to trim the deficit to just three points at 45-42 with 10:41 to play.
- With 3:06 remaining, Boahen connected on a 3-pointer to cap his scoring for the evening. Boahen ended the night leading the team with 15 points, nine of which came in the second half.

Facts and Figures
- Boahen lead UIC in scoring for the fifth game this year, finishing with 15 points.
- Bridges scored 10 or more points for the third consecutive game. His three block shots are a new season high.
- As a team, the Flames shot 88.9 percent (16-of-18) from the free throw line, the second highest free throw percentage this year.
- UIC, who entered the game making 8.2 3-pointers per game, finished the night with four made triples, tied for a season low.
