@UICWBB Prepares to Host Western Michigan

Flames and Broncos tip off Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. CT

CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (1-7) will face off with its second Mid-American Conference opponent in its last three games when it hosts Western Michigan (3-3) on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. CT.

LAST TIME OUT
  • UIC captured its first win of the season with a 73-61 victory over city rival Chicago State.
  • The Flames had their best offensive showing of the season, putting up their highest point total of the season and shooting a season-high 37.7 percent from the field and 75.9 percent from the free throw line.
  • In addition to Lampley's standout performance, Jealissa Presswood also took home personal bests in points (8) and rebounds (6), Abreanna Lake finished with a season high points (8) and assists (5) and Kimeira Burks matched her season-high rebounds (8).
SENIOR STATUS
  • UIC's lone senior Tylah Lampley had a career night at Chicago State (Dec. 4), reeling in her first career double-double while also posting career highs in points (31), rebounds (11), attempts (20) and makes (9).
  • Lampley's 31 points against the Cougars were the most by any Flame since former standout Brittany Byrd scored 31 points on Jan. 6, 2018 at Cleveland State. She also finished 12-of-15 from the free throw line, becoming the first Flame to net 10 or more free throws since Taylor Toney racked up 12 free shots on Nov. 21, 2017 at Fort Wayne.
  • Against Florida State (Nov. 23) Lampley finished with a game-high 20 points, just one point shy of her previous career high.
  • The Homewood, Ill. native is 10th in the Horizon League in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game. She also comes in at 13th in rebounding (5.9 per game), 11th in free throw percentage (71.4 percent) and sixth in blocked shots (1.0 per game).
KIM3IRA BURKS
  • Freshman Kimeira Burks has led the newcomers so far, becoming the first freshman to reach double digits with 11 points against Indiana State (Nov. 19).
  • Burks ranks second on the squad in both three-point attempts (33) and makes (6), sinking at least one three in all but three outings so far.
  • Burks is also the team's runner-up in points (53), makes (17) and rebounds (44).
  • The freshman was in double-double territory at Chicago State (Dec. 4), contributing nine points and tying her personal best with eight rebounds.
  • The Chicago native leads the squad with 13 steals, putting her at ninth in the Horizon League.
BRING ON THE BRONCOS
  • Western Michigan is .500 on the season (3-3) so far, most recently besting New Mexico State by a three-point margin, 79-76, as part of the UTEP Thanksgiving Classic.
  • The Flames will serve as the Broncos' second Horizon League foe so far, as they defeated Detroit Mercy 82-67 back on Nov. 20.
  • Four Broncos average double-digit points - Jordan Walker (14.5 ppg), Leighah-Amori Wool (13.0 ppg), Breanna Mobley (12. ppg) and Kamrin Reed (10.5 ppg).
  • Mobley leads the squad in rebounds, pulling down 9.8 boards per game. Wool follows closely, averaging 8.7 rebounds per contest. Wool also paces the squad with 18 assists.

  • UIC will make the short trip to face former Horizon League member Valparaiso on Sunday, Dec. 16.
