Nneji Double-Doubles in Loss to Western Michigan

Nneji paces Flames with 16 points and 15 rebounds, as Flames fall 80-52.

CHICAGO - Jada Nneji recorded her first double-double of the season and fourth of her career on Sunday afternoon, as the Flames (1-8) dropped an 80-52 decision to Western Michigan (4-3). Nneji led the squad with 16 points and matched her own career high with 15 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive end.
 
First Half Highlights
  • WMU fired first with a three-pointer, but Flames were quick to respond with a layup made by Jada Nneji, 3-2.
  • The Broncos grew their lead with a 10-0 run, until the Flames were able to get back on the board with a three made by Tylah Lampley, 13-5.
  • After back-to-back shots from WMU, Abreanna Lake was able to land a jumper to finish the first quarter, 22-9.
  • A 5-0 run in the second for the Broncos was answered by Ahsha Spencer and Lake, bringing the score up to 27-15.
  • Nneji was able to land a freebie and follow it with a jumper to end the first half, 39-22, Broncos lead.
 
Second Half Highlights
  • The Broncos started off strong in the second half with a 7-0 run, until Jealissa Presswood landed a free throw for the Flames, 46-23.
  • After Nneji put two on the board for UIC, Lake took the rebound and Lampley drove to the basket to land a layup, 50-29.
  • UIC fired first in the fourth period with a jumper by Lake, but the Broncos answered back with a layup, 58-35.
  • After two freebies made by Nneji, Spencer boosted the score for UIC with a steal to land a layup, 60-40.
  • The Broncos had a 6-0 run, until the Flames bounced back with two free throws by Nneji and Lampley. Nneji later chipped in a layup, 75-50.
  • The fourth quarter ended with the Broncos outscoring the Flames 24-19, giving WMU the 80-52 win.

  • Ahsha Spencer had a career high 11 points, her first double-digit scoring effort of the season.
  • Abreanna Lake and Tylah Lampley scored eight points each. Lake's eight points matched her season high.
