@UICWBB Ends Road Stretch at Northern Kentucky

Flames square off with Norse Saturday at 1 p.m. CT

CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (3-18, 1-9 HL) will wrap up its five-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 2, as it faces Northern Kentucky (6-14, 5-5 HL). Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT inside the Norse's BB&T Arena.

Starting Five
  • Kienya Jones had a career night on Thursday at Wright State, coupling a game-high and career-high 21 points with a personal-best 11 rebounds for the first double-double of her career. The senior is shooting 51.6 percent, sinking 32 of her 62 attempts on the season.
  • Brittany Byrd maintains her spot at third in scoring in the Horizon League, averaging 14.8 points per game. Byrd's 1,064 career points currently puts her at No. 20 on UIC's all-time scoring list.
  • Tylah Lampley was back in the lineup on Thursday, contributing three points, all from the free-throw line.
  • The Flames rank fifth in the Horizon League in steals, averaging 8.1 thefts per contest. Byrd leads the Flames and ranks ninth in the conference with an average of 1.4 swipes per game.
  • UIC is third in the League in three-point field goal defense, containing opponents to just 28.7 shooting from downtown. The Flames have kept the opposition under 35 percent from three-point range in 15 of its 21 contests this year.
What's at Stake:
With a win, UIC would:
  • Win its fourth game of the season
  • Split the season series with Northern Kentucky
  • Capture its second Horizon League Win
  • Surpass last year's Horizon League win total
  • Improve to 2-10 in true road games
Norse Notes
  • The Norse are riding a three-game win streak, defeating Detroit Mercy (68-56), Oakland (72-50) and IUPUI (60-57).
  • Northern Kentucky is currently seventh in the Horizon League, winning five of its six games this season against conference opponents.
  • The Norse have the number one rebounding defense in the League, holding opponents to just 31.8 boards per game.
  • Taylor Clos leads the Norse offense with an average of 10.1 points per game, and is followed by Molly Glick (9.6 ppg) and Ally Niece (8.9 ppg).
  • Kailey Coffey leads the team and ranks fiith in the League in rebounding, pulling down an average of 7.8 rebounds per game.
  • NKU has a 6-2 advantage all-time against the Flames, and has the most recent victory, defeating UIC 49-67 back on Dec. 28 at Credit Union 1 Arena.
