CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team wraps up its season-opening road series on Saturday with a match against in-state rival Illinois State. The Flames and Redbirds square off Saturday at 11 a.m. CT at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
The Flames are looking to snap a three-match losing streak after falling to Big Ten opponent Wisconsin (7-0) and Colorado State (5-2) last weekend. On Saturday against the Rams, the Flames just missed the doubles point, coming up just short in the No. 3 match.
Georgia Gulin and
Georgie Sanders both won against their respective singles opponents to earn UIC's two points.
The Redbirds have won four-straight to start their dual season, including a pair of 4-3 victories over Horizon League-members IUPUI and Detroit Mercy. Illinois State will be facing Chicago State on Friday before taking on the Flames.
ISU has the advantage all-time over the Flames, 11-9, but UIC took the last meeting between the two teams, 7-0, last season on March 11.
UIC will play its first match at home next weekend, facing PAC-12 member Oregon at XS Tennis on Friday, Feb. 8.
