PEORIA, Ill. – The UIC women's tennis team (5-4) took home its third-straight win on Friday evening with a 5-2 victory over in-state rival Bradley (5-2). The Flames took the first two double matches consecutively to secure the doubles point and followed it up with four wins in singles to bury the Braves.
Doubles Highlights
Lucie Prochazkova and
Georgie Sanders took down Bozana Lojpur and Malini Wijesinghe at No. 2, 6-4, and
Viktoria Seifert and
Georgia Gulin took a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Nina Marjanovic and Nikki Perlwitz to earn UIC the doubles point.
Karyna Bihel and Leja Colic went up against Natalia Barbery and Sandra Maletin at No. 1 and ended at a 5-5 tie before the match went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Lojpur defeated Bihel at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2 to tie the match at one, but Sanders came through at No. 4 to defeat Barbery in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Seifert came back at No. 6, 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 to put UIC ahead 3-1, and Prochazkova bested Wijesinghe 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 to clinch the win for the Flames. Gulin came out on top at No. 5 versus Perlwitz, 7-5, 6-3, but the No. 1 between Maletin and
Lejla Colic went to the Braves, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
