CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (6-4) will look to keep its win streak alive as it hosts Cardinal Stritch on Thursday, Feb. 28. The Flames and Wolves will face off at XS Tennis at 10:30 a.m. CT.
The Flames will be returning to the court following a week away from action, and are looking to extend their win streak to five after taking its last four matches consecutively. UIC last defeated SIUE by a final tally of 4-1 back on Feb. 16.
Georgie Sanders and
Lucie Prochazkova were awarded Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week on Feb. 19 after an undefeated weekend at No. 2 doubles for the Flames. The pair won the award for the second-straight week for UIC, as
Rachel Le Comber and
Nell Arendt earned the weekly title on Feb. 12.
Georgia Gulin is leading the team with six wins in singles action so far in the dual season, while Le Comber, Prochazkova and Sanders all follow with four wins. Le Comber currently ranks 10th all-time at UIC in singles wins, tallying 68 wins in her career thus far.
Cardinal Stritch is 1-2 on the season after taking a 6-1 loss to fellow Horizon League-member Milwaukee. The Wolves lone win of the season came on Feb. 22 against another Horizon League foe in Green Bay, 4-3.
Following Thursday's match, the Flames will get back on the road to face Northern Illinois on Friday, March 8.
