UIC traveled to Northwestern Sunday evening for the second match of the season against the Wildcats, and for the second time, the hosts won early and often en route to a 4-0 victory.
"Johan [Hedstrom] competed well in singles and doubles," head coach
Hans Neufeld said of his veteran #1 singles player. "The freshmen gave solid performances in singles," he added, referring to
Pelle Strandberg and
Anthony Nguyen.
Northwestern, which has moved into the top 50 in the national rankings, won the doubles point before securing the team victory with three straight wins in singles, halting play on the remaining three courts.
