CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (11-4) extended its win streak to nine on Sunday with a 6-1 take down of Oakland (7-7). After taking the doubles point, the Flames took five out of six singles matches in route to its second Horizon League victory of the weekend.
Doubles Highlights
Georgie Sanders and
Viktoria Seifert shut out Alexandra Whall and Sofia Borcuti at No. 3, 6-0 to start things off for the Flames, and
Rachel Le Comber teamed up with
Karyna Bihel at No. 2 to defeat Samantha Galloway and Dasha Artamonova 6-4 to hand UIC the first point of the match. The No. 1 match that had
Lejla Colic and
Lucie Prochazkova up against Ava Thielman and Darya Maltseva went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Nell Arendt put the Flames up by two with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 6 over Borcuti, her eighth straight. Bihel secured her fifth-straight singles win at No. 2 with a straight-set win over Maltseva, 6-2, 6-2. Le Comber clinched the victory for UIC with her seventh-straight win at No. 5, 6-2, 6-4 against Whall. Oakland got its lone point of the day at No. 1, as Thielman bested Colic, 6-0, 6-3, but Prochazkova came out on top at No. 3, 6-4, 6-2 over Galloway to gain another point for the Flames. At No. 4, Sanders rebounded after dropping set one 6-4 to take the next two 7-5, 10-5 to complete the 6-1 win.
