CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The UIC women's tennis team (12-4, 3-0 HL) saw its win streak move into double figures on Saturday with a 6-1 victory over Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky (5-7, 1-2 HL). The Flames dropped just two games in the first two doubles matches to quickly take the doubles point, and moved on to take five out of six singles matches to take home their 10th-straight victory.
Doubles Highlights
Georgie Sanders and
Viktoria Seifert teamed up again at No. 3, defeating Elizabeth Rozin and Autumn Clark 6-1 to take their fourth-straight match as a duo.
Rachel Le Comber and
Karyna Bihel took down Maria Koo and Katja Dijanezevic by the same score at No. 2, 6-1, to secure the doubles point for UIC. The No. 1 match featuring
Lucie Prochazkova and
Lejla Colic against Taylor Culbertson and Margita Sunjic had the Flames up 5-2, but ultimately went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Nell Arendt made quick work of Hannah Watton at No. 6, 6-2, 6-0, for her ninth-straight singles victory. Prochazkova bested Rozin at No. 3, 6-4, 6-1 and Sanders followed at No. 4, defeating Culbertson, 6-1, 6-3 to clinch the win for the Flames. Le Comber was victorious over Dijanezevic, 6-3, 6-4. The win was her eighth-straight and 73rd as a Flame, putting her into a tie for ninth all-time. Northern Kentucky's lone win of the day came at No. 2, as Koo took a win over Bihel, 6-4, 6-4. Colic finished off the match with a comeback win over two-time defending Horizon League Player of the Year Sunjic, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-3.
