Flames Put Away Wright State, 5-2

UIC Moves to 2-0 in Horizon League Play

UIC defeated Wright State, 5-2, to advance to 2-0 in Horizon League play Sunday afternoon.  After dominating on the doubles courts, the Flames won the first three singles matches to clinch the win, and went up 5-0 before the Raiders won two points on third set tiebreakers.

"We had a great effort in doubles," head coach Hans Neufeld said.  "Johan and Kasper at #2 were up 5-3 serving when their match was stopped.  Then in singles, Niko and Pelle won quick matches and Anthony clinched it for us.  Johan went undefeated on the weekend at #1 singles and #2 doubles.  Great team effort against two solid teams" in Northern Kentucky and Wright State.

With road wins over the Norse and Raiders this weekend, the Flames started 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2009.  That year, UIC went 6-1 in Horizon League action and advanced to the conference championship.
