MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The UIC women's tennis team (13-4, 4-0 HL) brought home its 11th-straight win on Sunday morning with a 4-3 victory over Wright State (10-11, 2-1 HL). After taking the doubles point, the Flames grabbed victories in the first two singles matches and never looked back, clinching the win just two matches later.
Doubles Highlights
Georgie Sanders and
Viktoria Seifert were edged out by Jillian Milano and Andreea Craciun at No. 3, 6-4, to give the Raiders an early advantage, but
Rachel Le Comber and
Karyna Bihel responded with a 6-4 victory of their own at No. 2 over Luisa Pelayo and Grace Whitney to even the tally.
Lejla Colic and
Lucie Prochazkova came up big for the Flames at No. 1, holding off Haily Morgan and Madison Riley 7-6 (6) to win the doubles point and give the Flames a 1-0 lead.
Singles Highlights
Le Comber started off singles action at No. 5 with a straight-set victory over Milano, 6-4, 6-3. The win was her ninth-straight and also tied her with former Flame
Ayca Gumuscu for eighth-place all time in career singles wins (74). Colic was victorious at No. 1, 6-4, 6-4, defeating Craciun and putting UIC ahead 3-0. Riley bested Sanders at No. 4, 6-3, 6-3, to give the Raiders their first point of the day, but Prochazkova put Wright State away for good at No. 3 with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Pelayo. The Raiders took wins at No. 2 and No. 6, as Bihel fell 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (0) to Morgan and Arendt lost to Whitney, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
