Women’s Tennis Squares up with NIU

Flames and Huskies face off Friday at 11 a.m. CT

CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (7-4) will look to extend its win streak to six on Friday, facing off with in-state rival Northern Illinois. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT at Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Ill.

The Flames took home their fifth-straight win with a 7-0 sweep of Cardinal Stritch on Thursday, Feb. 28, taking two early wins in doubles for the 1-0 lead before winning all six singles matches. Karyna Bihel, Lucie Prochazkova, Georgia Gulin and Nell Arendt each earned straight-set wins for the Flames in singles action.

Arendt is on a four-match win streak in singles after her straight-set victory from the No. 6 spot last week, while Gulin, Prochazkova and Sanders are all riding respective three-match win streaks. Gulin owns the most wins, capturing seven victories in UIC's 11 matches so far.

The Huskies are 2-7 on this season after coming up short against SIUE back on Sunday, Feb. 24, 4-3. NIU's two wins have both come against Horizon League opponents, as it defeated Milwaukee, 4-3 on Jan. 25, and Green Bay on Feb. 3, 7-0.

UIC will remain on the road next week, facing Western Michigan on Thursday, March 14.
