DEKALB, Ill. – The UIC women's tennis team (8-4) won its sixth-straight match with a 7-0 victory over in-state rival Northern Illinois (2-8) on Friday. The Flames took the doubles point and followed it up with six straight-set victories in singles for their second-straight shutout victory.
Doubles Highlights
Karyna Bihel and
Rachel Le Comber paired up for their second-straight shutout at No. 2, defeating Paula Veyhle and Lara Slisko, 6-0.
Lejla Colic and
Lucie Prochazkova outlasted Christy Robinson and Brodie Walker at No. 1, 6-4 to clinch the doubles point for the Flames, and the No. 3 match between
Georgie Sanders/
Viktoria Seifert and Maria Potsi/Fernanda Naves went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Le Comber was back in the lineup at No. 5, defeating Naves 6-1, 6-3.
Nell Arendt took home her fifth-straight singles victory with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Slisko at No. 6 and Prochazkova defeated Robinson at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1 to seal the deal for the Flames. Â Colic bested Potsi 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 and Bihel followed with a win over Walker at No. 2, 7-5, 6-4. Sanders completed the sweep at No. 4 with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Veyhle.
