Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The UIC women's tennis team (15-4, 5-0 HL) continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 shutout of IUPUI (5-13, 1-4 HL). The Flames rallied after dropping the first doubles match, taking the next two to win the doubles point and take an early 1-0 lead. UIC moved on to singles, where it won all six matches, five by way of straight sets, to secure its 13th-straight win.
Doubles Highlights
IUPUI's Krystal Grubb and Mariella Pessina took home a 6-2 decision over
Rachel Le Comber and
Karyna Bihel at No. 2, but
Georgie Sanders and
Viktoria Seifert answered for the Flames at No. 3 with a 6-4 win over Meghan Bernard and Samnatha Hayward to even the tally.
Lucie Prochazkova and
Lejla Colic joined forces at No. 1, holding off Christina Stankovic and Gabrielle OIchalik 7-6 (3) to put the doubles point on UIC's side.
Singles Highlights
Le Comber took home her 76th career win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 5 over Grubb. Prochazkova grabbed a win at No. 3, 6-3, 6-1 against Sarah Lounsbury, and Seifert followed and clinched the win for the Flames with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 6. Bihel bested Ochalik at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2, and Sanders topped Pessina at No. 4, 6-2, 6-2. Colic outlasted Stankovic at No. 1, 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 to complete the sweep.
