The UIC men's soccer team unveiled their brand new kits for the 2019 season just before the first match of the year:
The primary kit is a first-of-its-kind light blue shirt with matching shorts and socks, inspired by the shade of blue in the Chicago flag.
Another iconic portion of the flag – and indeed, the very identity of the city – is the four red stars, included on the left sleeve.

The four stars represent historic moments in Chicago's history: Fort Dearborn, the Great Chicago Fire, the World's Columbian Exposition, and the Century of Progress Exposition.
UIC's school colors, fire engine red and navy blue, are represented in striping along the sides. The style of those stripes is an ode to the early 1990s adidas soccer look that was reproduced for the 2018 World Cup.
Associate head coach
Minos Vlamakis worked closely with adidas, the official apparel partner of UIC Athletics, to create the customized color scheme.  "We pride ourselves on being unique in the styles that we've created in partnership with adidas over the years," he said. "We wanted to take that to a different level this year and create something that is specific to our team and our heritage.
"We have a diverse team from all over the world and all over the country, but our home is the city. We wanted that to be reflected in our uniform that we wear with pride," Vlamakis continued.
The light blue kits will be the Flames' primary uniforms at home and on the road.
Goalkeepers will be outfitted in orange, with red and blue stripes and red stars that mirror those on the light blue versions.
