@UICWBB Gets Back on the Road to Battle Milwaukee

Flames and Panthers tipoff Friday at 11 a.m. CT

CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (2-15, 1-5 HL) returns to the road this weekend for a pair of games up north, starting with a matchup against Milwaukee (5-11, 2-3 HL). The Flames and Panthers are scheduled to meet up on Friday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. CT.

WITH A WIN, UIC WOULD:
  • Improve to 3-15 on the season
  • Win its second Horizon League game of the season
  • Improve to 22-38 all-time against Milwaukee
  • Snap a seven-game skid against the Panthers
  • Win its second game on the road this season
LAST TIME OUT
  • UIC wrapped up its longest homestand of the season on Saturday (Jan. 11) with an 88-46 loss to Northern Kentucky.
  • The Norse ended the day putting away 47 percent (31-of-66) of their shots from the field, while keeping the Flames to 32.1 percent (18-of-56) overall.
  • The Flames honored former Senior Associate AD/SWA and student-athlete Tonya McGowan with a jersey retirement ceremony at halftime, where McGowan saw her no. 55 jersey was raised into the rafters of Credit Union 1 Arena in honor of nearly 40 years of dedicated service to the UIC athletic department
  • Jada Nneji led the Flames with 11 points, her fifth straight double-digit performance.
GETTING DEFENSIVE
  • The Flames rank fifth in the Horizon League in shooting defense, with opponents making 39.5 percent of their shots overall.
  • UIC's opposition is shooting just 27.3 percent from beyond the arc, which leads the Horizon League.
  • The Flames have held their opponents to below 40 percent from the field in all but five games so far, and they have kept the opposition below 35 percent beyond the arc in all but three.
  • As a team, UIC ranks second in the conference in steals (8.41 per game), and third in blocks (3.82 per game).
  • Jada Nneji leads the League averaging 2.1 blocks per game. Lampley also comes in the League's top ten, averaging 0.8 blocks per game.
  • Five Flames rank in the top-15 in the League in steals: Tylah Lampley (5th, 1.6 per game), Abreanna Lake (6th, 1.5 per game), Kimeira Burks (10th, 1.2 per game), Tiana Jackson (11th, 1.2 per game), and Jada Nneji (12th, 1.2 per game).
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
  • Milwaukee is 5-11 on the season overall with a 2-3 mark in Horizon League action.
  • The Panthers squared off with Oakland on Saturday (Jan. 11) and were dealt a 78-62 loss.
  • Brandi Bisping (8.9 ppg), Sydney Levy (8.3 ppg) and Lizzie Odegard (7.9 ppg) spread the ball around on offense.
  • Odegard leads the team in rebounding with an average of 6.6 boards per game. Bisping follows with 5.6 rebounds per game.
  • As a team, Milwaukee ranks third in the Horizon League in three-point field goals made, averaging 6.5 makes from beyond the arc per game.
  • The Panthers have won the last seven meetings between the two teams, and they hold a 37-21 advantage all-time against UIC.
  • Milwaukee last defeated the Flames on Feb. 28, 2019, 48-37.
