CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (0-1) will continue its season-opening road swing this weekend, making the short trip down I-55 to square off with in-state rival Illinois State (1-1). The two teams will meet on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. CT inside the Bloomington Tennis Center.
The Flames were handed a 6-1 loss at Marquette in their season opener on Saturday (Jan. 25).
Izzy Marshall took home the lone victory for the Flames, defeating her opponent in the four spot in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Illinois State has split its first two matches, defeating Eastern Illinois 5-2 on Friday, Jan. 24 before wrapping up the weekend with a 7-0 loss at DePaul on Sunday (Jan. 26). The Redbirds are 4-8 in singles matches so far and 2-4 in doubles contests.
Following its dual with Illinois State, UIC will return home for its home opener against Chicago State on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. CT.
