INDIANAPOLIS - The Horizon League announced on Wednesday that the Detroit Mercy vs. UIC men's basketball games scheduled for Jan. 1 and 2 at Credit Union 1 Arena have been canceled due to the Detroit Mercy program pausing activities for a week due to the mental health and well-being of its student-athletes.Â
Â
The Horizon League and UIC are fully supportive of Detroit Mercy's decision to pause activities as guided by the conference's top priority: the health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Â
The Flames are continuing to progress through the Horizon League's Return to Play protocols. With this weekend's cancellation, UIC is scheduled to safely return to competition Jan. 8-9 at Horizon League newcomer Purdue Fort Wayne.Â
