Flames Suffer Short-handed Loss at Northwestern

Wildcats defeat Flames 4-0

Box Score EVANSTON, Ill. – The UIC women's tennis team (3-2) was unable to pull off another short-handed win on Sunday, falling 4-0 loss to city-foe Northwestern (2-4). The Wildcats picked up the doubles point and grabbed the first three singles wins to clinch the win.

Doubles Highlights
Izzy Marshall and Karyna Bihel came up short in the No. 1 match against Julie Byrne and Inci Ogut, 6-4. The No. 3 match went to the Wildcats by forfeit, while the No. 2 match between Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo and Georgia Gulin and Northwestern's Hannah McColgan and Caroline Pozo went unfinished at the 4-4 mark.

Singles Highlights
The Flames played a man down in singles, and the No. 1 match went to Northwestern's Julie Byrne, as Lejla Colic retired at 4-0. Georgia Gulin was defeated at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1 by Caroline Pozo. Karyna Bihel's No. 2 match, Izzy Marshall's No. 3 match and Nell Arendt's match at No. 5 all went unifinished with the Wildcats' clinch.
