FRESNO, Calif. - Offensive struggles plagued the Flames at day one of the Fresno State Invitation as UIC (3-4) faced strong pitching and was dealt a pair of shutout losses. The Flames dropped a 4-0 decision to Pacific (7-3) and came up short in a pitchers' duel with host Fresno State (10-3), 1-0.

Game Highlights vs. Pacific

• Pacific got the game's first score in the top of the third with a single, a hit-by-pitch and a pair of walks, 1-0.
• McKennah Ulrey was hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the third and Kayla Wedl followed with a single, but UIC's next two batters struck out to end the threat.
• The Tigers added to their lead in the top of the fourth, thanks to an error, two bunts and a single, 3-0.
• A pair of doubles brought across another run for the Tigers in the top of the fifth, 4-0.
• The Flames got another look in the bottom of the fifth, as Schyler Ek led off with a walk and attempted to come home off a Samantha Ferguson single and was called out at the plate.

Facts & Figures vs. Pacific

• Pacific kept UIC to just three hits, compared to its own six. Kayla Wedl, Samantha Ferguson and Maddie Spinks made up UIC's tabs.
• Allie Trudeau pitched the duration and took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the season. Trudeau gave up two earned runs off six hits while striking out four in her complete-game performance.
• The Flames endured 13 strikeouts from Pacific starter Myka Sutherlin.

Game Highlights vs. Fresno State

• The Flames had an opportunity in the fourth, starting off with a Samantha Ferguson double. Spinks followed with a single and took an unmanned second base to put two runners in scoring position with no outs. A strikeout and a double play put an end to the chance and kept the game scoreless.
• After four and-a-half scoreless innings, a double for Fresno State turned into a run after a UIC error, 1-0.
• Tara McElligott batted a two-out single in the top of the seventh, but the Flames were unable to bring her home, giving Fresno State the win.

Facts & Figures vs. Fresno State

• UIC outhit the Bulldogs, 4-3. Samantha Ferguson, Maddie Spinks, Kayla Wedl and Tara McElligott collected one hit each.
• Christina Toniolo was solid for the Flames in the circle, pitching the complete game but taking the loss. The freshman allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out nine.
• The Flames once again faced strong pitching, striking out 15 times against Fresno State's Hailey Dolcini.
