Flames Drop Crosstown Match to Northwestern

Team Returns to Action Sunday

UIC hung tough in a spirited match against Northwestern Saturday evening.  The Wildcats, who are rated #34 in the country and defeated #7 Columbia earlier Saturday, took the match but not before the Flames challenged them up and down the lineup.

Kasper Parlklo moved to the #1 singles flight for the first time in his career.  He entered play with a team-best four match winning streak.  Alvaro de la Fuente and Niko Wasilewicz reunited on the doubles courts for the first time since they were in their first year of competition in 2017.

The Flames will continue a busy weekend with a trip to Marquette Sunday.

Doubles Results
  • de la Fuente and Wasilewicz played on the #3 court, where they fell by a 6-2 score.
  • Johan Hedstrom and William Wale went down, 6-4 at #2.
  • Parlklo and Pelle Strandberg played again at #1, where their match was 5-3 in favor of Northwestern when halted.
