UIC started strong in doubles play, but narrowly lost the point in their match at Marquette Sunday.  The Golden Eagles seized the momentum to reel off wins on the singles courts, clinching the match.

"Kasper and Pelle had a strong doubles win at 1," Hans Neufeld said.  "They competed well and held good court positions."  A 7-5 loss at 3 doubles swung the point to the hosts, and the Flames did not get back on the board until Luiz Dos Santos won his #6 singles match.

Doubles Results

• William Wale and Johan Hedstrom were first to finish on the #2 court.  They fell in a 6-1 final.
• Kasper Parlklo and Pelle Strandberg secured a 6-2 win to move to 2-0 together in doubles action.
• The pivotal #3 set went Marquette's way, 7-5 over Niko Wasilewicz and Alvaro de la Fuente.

Singles Results

• Hedstrom stayed in the #2 flight, where he debuted Saturday at Northwestern.  He lost his match 6-3, 6-1.
• Parlklo held serve for a while at #1, but couldn't keep up in a 6-3, 6-4 loss.
• Wasilewicz dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision on the #5 court.
• Strandberg fell to below .500 in the #3 flight with a 6-3, 6-1 loss.
• Anthony Nguyen got stronger as the match went on, but fell 6-2, 6-4 at #4.
• Dos Santos played a solid match and earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at #6.
