Box Score HOMEWOOD, Ill. – The UIC women's tennis team (2-1) picked up another short-handed win on Thursday morning, defeating city-rival Chicago State (0-4), 5-2. The Flames took three-straight 6-2 wins in doubles to take an early 1-0 lead before once again taking the first three singles matches to clinch the win.
Doubles Highlights
Karyna Bihel and
Izzy Marshall finished first, defeating Diana Borodina and Katarina Drazic, 6-2.
Lejla Colic paired up with
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo in her Flames debut to clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Susana Andres and Kristina Pukhaeva.
Nell Arendt and
Lucie Prochazkova finished out doubles competition with another 6-2 victory for UIC, taking down Lizi Morgoshia and Katarina Dukic.
Singles Highlights
Nell Arendt picked up a quick win over Katarina Dukic at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1.
Izzy Marshall followed with a straight-set win over Lizi Morgoshia at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3.
Karyna Bihel secured the win for UIC at No. 2, 7-5, 6-3, over Katarina Drazic. Chicago State's Kristina Pukhaeva outlasted
Lejla Colic, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. The No. 6 match went to the Cougars by default.
