Flames, Norse Meet for Horizon League Championship

3 POINT PLAY
• UIC will look to capture its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2004 on Tuesday, March 10th, as the fourth-seeded Flames face second-seeded Northern Kentucky in the Horizon League Basketball Championship title game.
• The Flames advanced to its first title game since its 2004 championship run with a 73-56 rout of top-seeded Wright State in the semifinals. Tarkus Ferguson scored a season-high 25 points to lead UIC while Marcus Ottey scored 13 and Braelen Bridges added 10. Godwin Boahen nearly had his third double-double of the year with 10 rebounds to go along with nine points.
• The Flames secured their 10th conference victory of the year with an 84-67 win against Detroit Mercy Feb. 27, the third consecutive year UIC has 10 or more conference wins. It marks the first time in program history the Flames have three consecutive 10+ win seasons in league action.

SERIES STUFF
• UIC and Northern Kentucky will be meeting for the third time this season after splitting the regular season contest. Both teams won on the road, with the Norse winning, 68-52, on Jan. 12 before the Flames rebounded with a 73-43 blowout victory on Feb. 16.
• Tarkus Ferguson averaged a team-best 13 points for UIC in the team's two meetings with NKU, while Michael Diggins nearly averaged a double-double with an average of 13 points and 8.5 rebounds in two contests.
• Tuesday's meeting will be the first-ever postseason meeting between the two programs, with Northern Kentucky having joined the Horizon League at the start of the 2015-16 season.

SEMIFINAL NOTES
• UIC pulled off its first Horizon League tournament upset (by seed) since taking down Green Bay in a 3-6 matchup in 2017.
• The game was UIC's first contest against the #1 seed since 2008, a semifinal loss to Butler.  • It was their first win over #1 since the 2004 championship game.
• The Flames improved to 4-0 all-time at Indiana Farmers Coliseum with all three victories coming since 2018.
• UIC has won at least three games at the conference tournament for the first time since 2002. That year the Flames downed Milwaukee, Detroit Mercy and Loyola to earn an NCAA Tournament bid.

FLAMES ROUT JAGUARS
• UIC advanced to the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Basketball Championship with a 93-59 blowout of IUPUI on March 3.
• The 34-point margin of victory matched UIC's largest margin of victory in a Horizon League tournament game.
• Braelen Bridges recorded his third double-double of the year with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Tarkus Ferguson once again did a little bit of 14 points, six rebounds and six assists.
