CHICAGO – Sophomore Mark McCabe was named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday (March 11). It is the first weekly award of McCabe's career.
 
The native of Lisle, Illinois threw his first career complete game in the Flames' 6-1 win over St. Bonaventure, UIC's first win of the season. The lefty allowed just two hits over the course of his nine innings pitched and allowed just one run while striking out four.
 
McCabe's outing was the first complete game by a Flames pitcher since Jacob Key threw a complete game in UIC's 5-1 win over Chicago State on March 8, 2019.
 
UIC returns to action Wednesday (March 11) afternoon, playing host to Augustana. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m.
