CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team will be traveling to Milwaukee, Wis. to make its season debut against Marquette and the Golden Eagles on Saturday, Jan. 30. First serve is set for 10 a.m. CT inside Marquette's Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The 2019-20 squad finished with an 8-2 record in the shortened season, winning its last five matches consecutively before the season's unexpected end. The 2019-20 Flames held a 31-20 record in singles matches as a squad and a 16-10 record in doubles matches.
Returning for the Flames this season are seniors
Lucie Prochazkova and
Georgia Gulin, as well as juniors
Nell Arendt and
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo. New to Flames' roster in 2021 are freshmen
Agnes Gustafsson (Paris, France),
Tamara Malazonia (Birmingham, United Kingdom) and
Tuva Wallin (Stockholm, Sweden). Also suiting up for the Flames this year is junior
Ana Jover, who transferred to UIC from Louisiana Tech.
The Flames and Golden Eagles met in last season's opener on Jan. 25, 2020. That contest ended in favor of Marquette, 6-1. Marquette holds the advantage all time over UIC, 26-3.
Following its contest at Marquette, UIC will remain on the road to face Cincinnati on Friday, Feb. 5.
