EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Matching rounds of 80 by
Megan Tang and
Lia Thomas led the way for the UIC women's golf team in the opening round of the Charles Braun Intercollegiate.
"Overall, pretty happy with where we are," said head coach
Mat Blair. "The greens were quick and sloping and we really struggled around the greens. We look forward to tomorrow and what we can do as we strive for a top-four finish."
Tang and Thomas's rounds of 80 put the pair in a tie for 14
th on the individual leaderboard as UIC shot a combined 322 in the opening round.
Grace Szklarek and
Brooke Beyer finished one stroke back with opening-round scores of 81 while
Adrienne Montalone fired an 85. Competing as individuals,
Emma Hayes shot 84 and Stephanie Morz posted an 87.
The second and final round of action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
