Two Flames were named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team, which was released today.  Lena Kurz and Grace Haines were selected to the prestigious group.

Kurz has a perfect 4.0 GPA through two-plus years of graduate studies.  She completed her master's degree in Instructional Leadership in just three semesters, and is currently pursuing a second master's in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment.  The reigning women's soccer Senior CLASS Award winner, Kurz was a Horizon League All-Academic selection and CoSIDA Academic All-District last season.

Kurz has been UIC's full-time starting goalkeeper all three of her seasons.  She holds the program's career and single-season records for wins, shutouts, save percentage, and goals-against average.

Haines is a first-time member of the All-Academic Team.  The junior has an unblemished 4.0 GPA as an Education major.  Haines has started every match this season, and is fourth on the team in minutes played.  She was an All-Horizon League second team selection as a sophomore, and was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman team in 2019.  The rock-steady defender has contributed to 16 shutouts over her career.

The Flames will take the pitch for their final match of the 2021 season Wednesday evening.
